Board and Train

What is a Board and Train?

At Bay Haven, we offer a range of Board and Train programs. A Board and Train is a dog training program where a dog stays at a training facility for a set period of time, usually several weeks, to receive intensive training from professional trainers, allowing them to focus solely on developing new behaviors or addressing behavioral issues in a controlled environment; essentially, its like a doggy “boot camp” for dogs to board and train simultaneously!

A Board and Train program is perfect for owners who already require longer boarding services. Why not have your dog in training while they board!,

Owners who may be struggling to set a solid foundation with their dog due to a busy schedule! The beginning stages of training can sometimes be the hardest. It requires a lot of time, consistency, repetition, and patience. Let Bay Haven do the hard work of setting the foundation then train YOU on how to continue your dogs growth when they return,

OR for owners that want to expand their knowledge in dog training. You as the owner will also be learning new skills, tips, and tricks while your dog is in The program.

How Does It Work?

First step in the program is a free phone consultation to discuss your dog’s specific needs, personality, and goals. Once we work together to decide which program is best for you we assign your dog a start date! Start dates can be flexible to fit your schedule or travel dates. 


On the start date we come to your home for pick up. All you need to supply is your dogs food! We take care of the rest. 


once your dog is in our care you have full contact access. You may call or text to check in OR wait for your update report! During your dogs stay you will receive report cards explaining how your dog is doing, what they worked on, all progress, training tips, and more. You will receive pictures and videos of your dog along with training material for you to grow your knowledge on dog training. 


Each day your dog will follow a structured  routine of training, play, enrichment activities, socialization, and down time.


On the very last day of training we bring your dog back to you and conduct an in home turnover. This is a 1-2 hour private lesson to teach you and your dog how to now work together on everything you and your dog have learned, how to continue practicing and learning, and how to smoothly transition it all back into your home. 

Training Opportunities

One Week Basic Obedience

Includes:

• 7 night boarding 

• House manners 

• 5 commands ( Come, Sit, Place, Down, Heel) 

• Home pick up and drop off

• 1 long leash 


This training plan is designed for those who want an introduction into training. 

During a one week board and train your dog will learn basic level skills using leash and treats. your dog will train in a house and neighborhood environment.
The owner will learn techniques and training tips for continued improvement once their dog returns home.
Great for puppies, first time dog owners, or experienced dog owners looking for help to set foundation! 



Two Week Intermediate Obedience

Includes:

• 14 night boarding 

• House manners 

• 5 commands (Come, Sit, Place, Down, Heel) 

• Home pick up and drop off

• 1 long leash 

• Prong, Chain, or E-Collar (If applicable) 

• Socialization 

• Desensitization


This training plan is designed for those who want to establish a solid foundation of training. 

During a two week board and train your dog will learn intermediate level skills. Depending on your dogs specific style of learning they may work with one of the following tools; E-Collar, Prong Collar, Gentle Lead, or Slip Lead. Your dog will work on socialization, desensitization, and impulse control in a home, neighborhood, store, park, and other public environments.
The owner will learn techniques and training tips for continued improvement once their dog returns home.

Great for puppies 6 months and up, dogs that get overstimulated around distractions, hard to manage dogs, or just wanting to add a higher level of obedience.  



Three Week Advanced Obedience

Three Week Advanced Obedience

Includes:

• 21 night boarding 

• House manners 

• 5 commands (Come, Sit, Place, Down, Heel) 

• Home pick up and drop off

• 1 long leash 

• Prong, Chain, or E-Collar (If applicable) 

• Socialization 

• Desensitization

• Behavior modification 


This training plan is designed for those who want a more advanced foundation in obedience OR for those looking to modify their dogs aggressive or highly reactive behavior. 

During a three week board and train your dog will learn advanced level skills. Depending on your dogs specific style of learning they may work with one of the following tools; Muzzle, E-Collar, Prong Collar, Gentle Lead, or Slip Lead. Your dog will work on socialization, desensitization, and impulse control in a home, neighborhood, store, park, and other public environments OR work on behavior modification in environments specific to their behavioral needs.
The owner will learn advanced techniques and training tips for continued improvement once their dog returns home.


Great for aggressive or reactive dogs, or dogs working on becoming therapy or service dogs.
